2014 Student Life Awards Ceremony
Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 7p.m.
The Student Life Awards is a celebration of all of the hard work and energy our students have put into their registered student organizations, the campus, and the surrounding community over the course of the academic year. Please join us on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Malcolm Field Theatre for the presentation of awards.
Nominations for all categories will be accepted until March 10th at 4:30 p.m. All nominations are submitted electronically. Click the award name listed below to read its description. Registered Student Organization Awards
Presented annually to a freshman or sophomore (0-61 credits) who has been active in Student Life, and has made a commitment to enhance the quality of Student Life at SVSU. Nominees should have demonstrated involvement in such areas as: student organizations, campus programming, and/or Residential Life. Rising Leaders have great potential to make a difference at SVSU.top
Presented annually to a junior or senior (62+ credits) who has been active in Student Life and has consistently shown a commitment to enhance the quality of Student Life at SVSU. Nominees should have demonstrated involvement in such areas as: student organizations, campus programming, and/or Residential Life.top
Named after one of SVSU’s most spirited students, this award is presented annually to a student who has exemplified the concept of Red Pride. Nominees should have demonstrated support for a variety of programming including athletics, student organizations and the arts. Nominees should lead others to increase their school spirit.top
This award is presented annually to an advisor who goes above and beyond to support their registered student organization. Nominees should be highly involved with their organization (s), dedicated to the campus community and active in the co-curricular experience of SVSU students.top
Presented annually, an organization in recognition of a program that highlights inclusiveness (could include but not limited to race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion/spirituality, age). Nominees should have demonstrated excellence, commitment and creativity, while enhancing the quality of student programming at SVSU.top
Presented annually, an organization in recognition of going above and beyond to encourage leadership development, or the utilization of leadership skills, and abilities to enhance the student experience at SVSU. Nominees should have demonstrated excellence, commitment to leadership and creativity.top
Presented annually to a student organization in recognition of a program that demonstrates excellence, commitment of the organization and creativity, while enhancing the quality of student programming at SVSU.top
Presented annually to a student organization, for a service or philanthropic project that demonstrates excellence and creativity. To be considered, the project must validate the commitment of the organization to develop a new service initiative, enhance an existing community project or raise funds/materials for philanthropy of their choosing.top
Presented annually to a student organization that registered for the first time during the academic year 2013-2014. Nominees should have demonstrated involvement in the SVSU community, creativity in programming and positive impact on the campus community.top
Presented annually to a Greek organization to acknowledge a program that demonstrated a connection to the campus community. This program can be categorized as educational, student access, community service, arts & cultural, cultural awareness, professional development, and/or health and fitness. Nominees should provide evidence of how this program maintained the commitment of the organization, while creatively enhancing the quality of student programming at SVSU.top
Presented annually to the student organization that has demonstrated remarkable spirit and a commitment to making a difference in the campus, and local community during academic year 2013-2014. Nominees should identify diversity in programming and leadership. The organization must have registered by October 1, 2013, be in good standing with the University, and have an active presence on campus.top
This is a brand new award, given to an RSO leader that has shown outstanding leadership qualities throughout the academic year 2013-2014. Demonstrations of such qualities are shown throughout your organization and community.top
This is a brand new award, recognizing the RSO’s that the university financially supports. These organizations provide stability, governance, allocations, and resources to other student organizations.top
This is a brand new award and it is presented one SVSU graduating senior during the 2013-2014 academic year that has had involvement in clubs and organizations; campus and community organizations; helpful to all faculty, staff, and fellow students, as well as contributing to their academic department.top
This is a brand new award that recognizes one SVSU student for significant contributions to the community, has demonstrated exemplary commitment, vision, and passion to the campus and the community.top
